We all believe minimalism is about removing things from our life.

Yes, it is that. But it is also much more.

Minimalism adds time, space, value and creativity. When we let go of things, we create space in our homes and also in our minds. Letting go of the non-essential helps build your own, customised sanctuary promoting only what is important to you.

When I first started experimenting with minimalism 6 months ago, I saw it as something that screams “remove, remove, remove”. However, it slowly dawned upon me that minimalism is more about our habits rather than mindlessly throwing objects away.

Habits that promote gratitude, space and mindfulness.

Have a No-Spend weekend

Spend one weekend every month doing things that do not cost anything. After working a 5 day week, weekends can be a time to let go of all inhibitions and have fun. For most people, this translates into consumerism. We forget our exercise, eat out, shop…
