As Cal Newport says of digital minimalism:

Minimalism is the art of knowing how much is just enough. Digital minimalism is the key to living a focused life in an increasingly noisy world.

It has taken our species much evolution to communicate complex human emotions through facial expression, voice and touch. The connection we innately crave is far superior to an occasional comment, retweet or message.

Digital minimalism allows us to untether ourselves from the distraction of notifications. Looking beyond hundreds of emojis and likes, we can make way for relationships that move us and solitude that challenges us.

1. Make your access to social media a challenge.

All of us know that being present and practising gratitude as crucial steps to living a fulfilled life.

So, what stops us?

Social media, in moderation, is excellent to keep communication lines open, grow our online presence and help document our lives.
